Adrian Peterson out for Vikings' finale

By on 12/28/2013 09:30:00 PM

The Minnesota Vikings will be without the leagues' MVP of 2012, running back Adrian Peterson. Peterson has played his final down this year, sitting out tomorrow for the Vikings' finale vs the Detroit Lions due to a sore groin suffered during last week's 42-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.  Head coach Leslie Frazier says Peterson is just not ready to be out on the field.
"If we felt like he was ready, he'd be out there," Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said, via ESPN.com.
Peterson finishes the season with 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Vikings are also without backup running back Toby Gerhart, who is out with a hamstring injury.  They will turn to Matt Asiata for the 2013 finale.

The Minnesota Vikings (4-10-1) play the Detroit Lions (8-7) tomorrow at 1:00 pm EST at the Mall of America Stadium in Minnesota.  Both teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
