The Dallas Mavericks were without the services of point guard Jose Calderon during Saturday night's 112-106 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Rotoworld.com reported a tweet by Earl K. Sneed, Mavs insider at Mavs.com about Calderon's status before the game.

It was Calderon's first game that he's missed this season.  Gal Mekel started in Calderon's place at point guard and had six points and seven assists in 26 minutes.  Shane Larkin backed up Mekel and added four points and two assists in 17 minutes.

The loss dropped the Mavericks to 10-8 and 4 1/2 games behind the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.

There is currently no word as to how much time Calderon will miss.  In his 9th NBA season and first with the Mavericks, Calderon is averaging 11.1 points and 4.9 assists per game. His career averages are 10.1 points and 7.1 assists, in 570 games.
