Brooks Laich continues to sit out practice and it’s unclear when the versatile forward might be ready to return to the lineup. He missed the past two games with a groin injury. The same injury that limited him to only nine games last season, which led to abdominal surgery.
Asked if this injury was headed down the same path as it did last season for Laich, Head coach Adam Oates said “I hope not. I’ve been told no.” “Hopefully it’s not. Hopefully it’s just, who knows, I don’t know how to
say it correctly, scar tissue or something,” Oates said. “Hopefully
it’s minor, it’s not ongoing and we’re going to do our best to make sure
it doesn’t get aggravated and it’s not continuous.”
Laich was not available for comments yesterday and has not skated since playing in the Caps loss to the Senators 6-4 back on Nov. 27th. That morning when he missed the morning skate due to tightness in his groin was an indication there was a problem. He was ruled out of tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes because of the amount of time missed so far this season.
