During the first half of the December 7 game against the Golden State Warriors, Memphis guard/forward Quincy Pondexter left the court due to an injury in his right foot. Two days later, the Grizzlies would announce that an MRI revealed a tarsal navicular stress fracture, taking Pondexter of the court indefinitely.
The 25-year-old was averaging 6.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 18.0 minutes in 15 games this season.
Pondexter announced via Twitter and Instagram Friday morning the operation on his foot went well. He included this message with the picture: Successful surgery this morning!! The road to recovery starts now. Looking forward to the challenge! It's only going to make me greater. #challengeaccepted #alwayssmiling Grizzlies team physicians Dr. Fred Azar and Dr. Drew Murphy performed Pondexter's surgery Friday at the Campbell Clinic.
