Carmelo Anthony is still questionable
for Thursday's game against the Spurs, after suffering an ankle
sprain back on December 23rd. The injury has kept Anthony
out for a week, including their Christmas Day Game which he
originally felt he'd be able to suit up for.
New York is riding a three game losing
streak during his absence, having no go-to options on offense relying
on players like J.R. Smith and Andrea Bargnani to shoulder the
scoring load.
Head Coach Mike Woodson remains hopeful
the Knicks' superstar will return in time for their three game road
trip through Texas, but is still uncertain whether he'll be ready.
From Al Innazzone of
Newsday:
“I’m
hoping he will be. When Melo’s ready to play, he’ll play. My
track record with Melo has been he plays. And if he’s hurt, he’s
hurt, and you got to believe that. So I’mis sure when he’s ready
to get back out on the floor from his ankle, he’ll let us know and
medical will let me know.”
