The Dallas Mavericks were unable to gain ground on Southwest Division leading San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, losing to the Spurs by the score of 116-107.  The loss dropped the Mavs to 16-13, 6 1/2 games back.  Despite there loss, there was was good news regarding guard Devin Harris.

Earl K. Sneed, Mavs insider at, tweeted the following about Harris' status.

Harris is an experienced point guard, who combined with Jose Calderon, will give the team veteran floor leaders for all 48 minutes each game. Calderon is averaging 12.4 points and 4.6 assists per game. He is being backed up by rookie Shane Larkin, who is averaging only 3.3 points and 1.9 assists, in 13.3 minutes per game.  Gal Mekel is also seeing time at the point, but is only averaging 3 points and 1.9 assists, in 10.7 minutes per game.  Expect Larkin and Mekel to be the odd men out when Harris returns.

Harris is in his 10th season out of Wisconsin.  Last season with the Atlanta Hawks, he averaged 9.9 points and 3.4 assists per game. That was his lowest output in both categories since the 2005-2006 season.  Harris has played with the Mavericks, Hawks, Nets and Jazz during his career. In 601 career games, he is averaging 12.8 points, 4.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.
