MLB rumors: Four teams interested in Grant Balfour

By on 12/22/2013 02:14:00 PM

It appeared that Grant Balfour found his new team earlier this week, but his deal with the Baltimore Orioles fell through. Now, the veteran right-hander tells Jim Duquette of The MLB Network that four teams are interested in his services while he has one offer on the table. The Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels and Tampa Bay Rays are all teams that have recently been tied to Balfour.
In addition to the teams previously mentioned, the Chicago White Sox and Seattle Mariners are other clubs that could be potential suitors for Balfour.

The O's made it seem that they canceled their agreement with Balfour due to concerns over his shoulder, but the 35-year-old is adamant that he's perfectly fine health-wise. He's had several third-party doctors give him a clean bill of health, and the fact that other team's are continuing to pursue him would indicate that his shoulder isn't as much of an issue as Baltimore initially made it out to be.

Balfour saved 38 games for the Oakland Athletics last season during an All-Star campaign. Over 62 2/3 innings the right-hander posted an ERA and WHIP of 2.59 and 1.197.
