Panthers injury report: Steve Smith, Greg Olsen, Jonathan Stewart

By on 12/21/2013 05:00:00 PM

The Panthers are out for revenge and control of the NFC South when the Saints come to town, just two weeks removed from a spanking in the Superdome.

Veteran receiver Steve Smith missed some practice this week with a finger injury, but appears in line to start after returning to practice Friday. Smith is listed as probable.

Smith wasn't the only starter on the Panthers' offense in that same situation. Tight end Greg Olsen (foot), tackle Jordan Gross (non-injury) and guard Travelle Wharton (non-injury) all missed a day of practice and all were listed probable. Reserve tight end Brandon Williams (hip) is also probable.

Running back Jonathan Stewart wasn't at practice this week and has been ruled out. Stewart missed last week's game, after injuring his MCL against the Saints two weeks back.

Aside from Stewart, it mainly seems like bumps and bruises for the Panthers at this point. The team remains hopeful Stewart will be back in the fold for January, but his status remains a mystery moving forward another week.
