St. Louis Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin missed practice yesterday due to his ankle injury, according to Joe Lyons of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Austin suffered the injury during his 56-yard run in the third quarter of last weekend's contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
Given his absence from Wednesday's practice session, Austin is questionable to suit up against the New Orleans Saints this weekend. His status is worth monitoring over the next few days of practice, but even if he is able to suit up he will be going against a Saints' defense that has been tough on opposing receivers this season.
After his breakout performance Nov. 10 against the Indianapolis Colts, during which he recorded two touchdowns and 138 yards receiving, Austin actually has more rushing yards than he does receiving yards. On the season the rookie has totaled 40 receptions for 418 yards and four touchdowns. He only caught one of three targets for nine yards last weekend against the Cardinals.
