"Neither Brees nor coach Sean Payton mentioned the injury during post-practice interviews, which took place before the injury report was released. Brees talked as if he intends to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers."The Saints need a win Sunday to assure a playoff spot, so Brees being limited could become a pretty significant deal if he continues to be limited in the practice week.
The Saints have struggled a bit as of late and have dropped two in a row, to the Rams and the Panthers on the road. While they'll likely have to go on the road in the playoffs, they can seal that right by beating the Bucs at home on Sunday.
It seems highly improbable that Brees wouldn't play on Sunday, in such a critical game. The bigger unknown is what extent the knee injury might bother him and potentially affect his performance in Sunday's game. Being that Brees is a pocket passer, the injury would have to be pretty significant to really throw him off his game, and we won't know that until later in the week.
