Vikings injury report: Adrian Peterson, Toby Gerhart likely out against Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings top two running backs Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart are expected to be out for today’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Peterson has been dealing with a foot injury which he sustained during last weekend's contest. He ultimately had to be carted off the field after suffering his foot injury. It appeared the ailment could be of the season-ending variety, but Peterson said early in the week that he hoped to suit up against the Eagles. The All Pro was able to return to practice this week, but it looks like the Vikings ultimately decided to shut him down for the weekend.

Both Peterson and Gerhart were considered game-time decisions yesterday, and now it looks like Minnesota will have Matt Asiata as the top running back on their depth chart. Asiata hasn't registered a carry yet this season, as he totaled three all of last season. Behind him, the Vikings also signed Joe Banyard off their practice squad and full back Jerome Felton.
