According to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish, the Tampa Rays and San Diego Padres have agreed to a trade sending infielder Logan Forsythe to the Rays. Cotillo says, “Alex Torres is likely headed to San Diego in the deal, and each team seems set to receive an additional prospect.”

Forsythe had been receiving interest from many ball clubs the past months and Jon Morosi of said that the Yankees were the most realistic destination for him until Tampa Bay became “aggressive” late.

Forsythe, 27, in 75 games hit for a slash
of .214/.281/.332 with 6 home runs and 19 RBI, going into his fourth season in the majors. Cotillo says he will serve as a “super-utility” player for the Rays as he played third base, shortstop, second-base, and left field for the Padres.

With Torres likely headed to San Diego, the Padres have successfully added a lefty to their bullpen, which is what they have been searching for. In 2013, he had a 1.71 earned run average in 58 innings while having an astounding WHIP of 0.90. Torres will give San Diego their late inning matchup guy, since Joe Thatcher was traded to Arizona last season.

Cotillo states that the deal has been agreed upon and not official yet. The deal will likely be official by Friday.

The Padres also acquire Jesse Hahn in the deal while Tampa Bay acquires Brad Boxberger, Matt Andriese, Maxx Tissenbaum, and Matt Lollis along with Logan Forsythe.
