Cavaliers' Luol Deng does not practice

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday by the score of 99-90. The loss dropped the Cavaliers to 16-28, 18 1/2 games behind the Indiana Pacers in the Central Division.  Forward Luol Deng played 41 minutes and had 18 points, ten rebounds and five assists in the loss.  But there is a bit of concern as Deng did not practice on Monday.

Jason Lloyd, Cavaliers beat writer for the Akron Beacon Journal, tweeted the following on Deng's status.

Earl Clark, who backs up Deng, had three points on 1-of-2 shooting, in ten minutes of action.  The other small forwards on the roster, Anthony Bennett and Alonzo Gee did not play. There is no word as to whether or not Deng can play tonight against the Pelicans. But I'm guessing he'll be in the lineup. If he cannot go, expect Clark to start.

Deng is in his tenth season out of Duke. Drafted by the Phoenix Suns, Deng has played his entire career with the Bulls, until the last nine games with the Cavaliers.  In 23 games with the Bulls this season, Deng averaged 19 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.  His numbers have dropped slightly to 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists with the Cavaliers.
