Kings' Martinez Out With Elbow Injury, Greene Back In

By on 1/27/2014 07:45:00 PM

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alec Martinez is out with a hyperextended elbow, as reported by Jon Rosen of Martinez suffered the injury in the collision with Ducks' forward Andrew Cogliano and goaltender Jonathan Quick in the third period of Saturday’s Stadium Series game at Dodger Stadium. No official word on how long he will be out.

The good news is that Martinez underwent an MRI, which showed no tear. He is however not with the team on their current two game road trip. Matt Greene is expected to be back in the lineup. Greene has missed the past six games with an upper-body injury.

Martinez has appeared in 39 games this season. He has four goals and three assists, and is a plus-8. He's averaging 14:50 TOI and has been seeing some power play time over the past few weeks.

Greene has played in 25 games. Very similar to Martinez, he has two goals and three assists, and is a plus-7. He was averaging 15:38 TOI.

Martinez is a depth defenseman, and with Greene returning, the Kings should not be very impacted.
