Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson returns to the lineup Wednesday night when the team hosts the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, as reported by Ansar Khan of Ericsson suffered a rib injury on December 23 and has missed 10 games since.

"It’s been [feeling] good, I just knew it was going to take some time," Ericsson said. "I know it was something that wasn’t going to get better overnight, so I’ve been patient about it, I’ve been trying to stay positive and all that. ... I think the healing process has been faster maybe than they thought, so that’s good."

Ericsson, one of six Red Wings selected to the Swedish Olympic team, has played in just 29 games this season, as he also missed another 10 games earlier in the season with a shoulder injury. He has one goal, seven assists, and is a plus-9. He's averaging 21:08 TOI.

The Red Wings have been dealing with a plethora of injuries this season. Several key players are still out of the lineup. The team currently find themselves outside of the playoff picture. The team will definitely benefit from Ericsson's return.
