The Phillies, Red Sox, and Royals are among the teams that have expressed interest in the former Phillies closer, who has not pitched since 2011 due to Tommy John surgery. Madson became the Phillies' closer in 2011 and responded with 32 saves. His surgery occurred in April of 2012, and he is now ready to resume his career.

Crasnick also announced that Madson has already thrown for an unspecified team considered the favorite to land him.
Madson has a career record of 47-30 with a 3.59 ERA, 52 saves, and 1.294 WHIP in 491 appearances (18 of them starts) since 2004 (plus one appearance in 2003), all with the Phillies. He has battled several other injuries throughout his career. Besides 2011, his best year was 2010 when he was 6-2, 2.55 ERA, and 1.038 WHIP. If he returns to form, he could enhance any bullpen he joins.
