Sabres place Stafford on IR

The Buffalo Sabres have placed forward Drew Stafford on injured reserve Thursday due to an upper body injury, as reported by TSN. The injury occurred on January 2nd in a game against the Minnesota Wild. Stafford played only 3:21 and recorded two shots before leaving the game. He has not played since.

In 41 games played this season, the 28-year old has four goals and nine assists. His 19 points has him sixth among all Sabres players. Stafford has been limited to non-contact work since sustaining the injury a week ago. No word on how long he may be out.

The Buffalo Sabres are last in the NHL standings. The have the least amount of goals scored and the worst goal differential. The team's 74 goals for are followed by the Calgary Flames at 100. With both Stafford and teammate Cody Hodgson on IR, the Sabres woes will only continue.
