While the New Orleans Saints travel to Philadelphia to square off against the Eagles on Wild Card Weekend, the team has already ruled out one player.
Starting running back Pierre Thomas will not play in Philadelphia. Thomas missed practice all week with a chest injury, before being ruled out Friday evening. Running backs Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles should see an expanded role with Thomas on the shelf.
Reserve linebacker Keyunta Dawson missed practice on Friday with a calf injury. Dawson is listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision before kickoff Saturday night.
Backup safety Rafael Bush was able to return to full reps in practice on Friday and he is considered probable now.
The loss of Pierre Thomas could be a sizable one, as the Saints offense continue to struggle on the road. With cold weather in the forecast as well, Thomas was probably the Saints running back best-suited for running in the elements. Ingram and Sproles are capable backups, though different styles of backs from the power running of Thomas.
