Saints mum on Keenan Lewis head injury

By on 1/06/2014 12:30:00 PM

Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis suffered a blow to the head in this weekend's victory over the Eagles. Lewis did not return to the game and the Saints have offered little in the way of offering up information on the injury. Per, head coach Sean Payton remained tight-lipped when asked about Lewis' availability for next week's game in Seattle.
"We'll keep you guys posted on any of our players."
The injury to Lewis is an area of concern to the Saints defense after Rod Sweeting replaced Lewis on Saturday night. Sweeting was routinely picked on by the Philadelphia passing attack.

While the Saints got out of Philadelphia with the win, they can ill afford to go into the hostile environment of Seattle with such a weakness having been exposed.

Lewis was visibly upset he wasn't allowed to return to the game on Saturday, which indicates the team feared a concussion and was following protocol with Lewis. If the medical staff has determined Lewis indeed suffered a concussion, he would have to be cleared in post-concussion tests this week to have any hope of playing in next Saturday's divisional round matchup with the Seahawks.
