San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers: The Quest for Six Begins

By on 1/02/2014 06:30:00 PM

Game: San Francisco 49ers @ Green Bay Packers

Kickoff: Sunday, January 5th, 2014, 4:40 P.M. EST

Line: 49ers, -3.0

Why the 49ers Will Win:

Frankly, I don't believe that there is a team in the NFL that is better built for a Super Bowl run than the San Francisco 49ers. They are incredibly physical up front, boast a defense riddled with Pro Bowl talent, and their offense has found continuity within a league best six-game winning streak. The 49ers should have no problem scoring points in this game, and are plenty capable of producing the necessary stops on defense against a tough Packers' offense to come out victorious.

Why the Packers Will Win:

Balance. The Packers haven't displayed offensive balance to this level since Ahman Green and a younger Aaron Rodgers led them to Super Bowl glory over Pittsburgh. Rookie running back Eddie Lacy is a tough runner and has the ability to chip away at the 49ers' stout run defense, allowing Rodgers time and space to dissect a secondary that has yielded over 350-yards passing in two straight.

Prediction:

The 49ers will win this game. They have owned Green Bay over the past two seasons, and will only be harder to stop in cold weather. Playoff football is all about imposing your will and scoring points, with the 49ers being the poster child for this type of success.

Any team with Gold associated into their history has to be a good bet, right? Take the 49ers against the line and enjoy your swollen pockets as the Red and Gold stamp out Rodgers and Co. in consecutive playoff matchup's with a 31-23 victory over the Pack.

  1. San Fran will unravel the storybook "dream" of the pack. Unless I am totally downing the Pack with the either disaster or genius moves behind the Rodgers/Cobb comeback. Too soon? I kinda think so. This one is hard, but for some reason my gut saya the 9ers are going to bust into a subzero Lambeau and shock the Pack in the first quarter. Never look back.

    1. While the Packers are confident, I believe that will be their issue. They're confident they can come in and run the ball and that will simply not happen. The Packers are always left guessing against the 49ers, and this game will be no different. 49ers make Pack one-dimensional and leave the Tundra winners. Thanks for the astute observation, you really know your stuff :)
