The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday by the score of 96-86.  It was their third consecutive loss and fifth loss in their last seven games. Even though the Spurs have been struggling of late, they are 33-13, three games ahead of the Houston Rockets in the Southwest Division. But the team will be without the services of veteran guard Manu Ginobili for significant time following a strained left hamstring against the Rockets on Tuesday.

As reported at, Spurs guard Manu Ginobili underwent an MRI exam, which revealed a strained left hamstring.  The injury occurred in the third quarter of the game against the Rockets.  Ginobili is expected to miss three-to-four weeks.

Ginobili had nine points in 14 minutes against the Rockets at the time of the injury.   With Ginobili out, Marco Belinelli and Ohtyus Jeffers will get the bulk of the minutes at shooting guard. Belinelli had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes against the Bulls. Jeffers had two rebounds in 15 minutes, but did not score. Expect Ginobili to return as primary backup when he returns from injury.

Ginobili has played his entire 12-year NBA career with the Spurs.  He is averaging 12.1 points in 42 games this year.  In 769 career games, he is averaging 14.7 points, four assists and 3.9 rebounds per game.
