Texans' Head Coach Bill O' Brien Starts Assembling Staff, Wade Phillips Fired in Process

Wade Phillips' future with the Houston Texans is no longer undecided, as new head coach Bill O' Brien is starting fresh, eliminating Phillips from his staff in a brief, two-minute meeting today.

Phillips has quite a history with the city and the franchise, stemming back to his college days at the University of Houston and also serving as an assistant to his father, Bum Phillips, with the Oilers from 1976-1980.

Phillips took to Twitter to say farewell to his Houston supporters:

O' Brien has already taken steps to replace Phillips, telling local beat writers that he had a staff in mind well before he took the job. O' Brien is planning to hire Romeo Crennel as his new defensive coordinator, and has also stated that he will be bringing three members of his Penn State staff with him to Houston.
