Giants running back David Wilson ahead of schedule

New York Giants running back David Wilson is head of schedule in his recovery from neck surgery and is now expected to be available in time for the start of training camp, Adam Schefter reported.

In November, Wilson's season ended with the neck injury.  At the time, the second-year pro had totaled a mere 146 yards on 44 carries.  He had twice as many fumbles (two) as touchdowns (1).

Wilson believes he has Spinal Stenosis, which is the narrowing of the spine causing pain and numbness, among other problems. The injury could be aggravated by playing football, but the doctors have told Wilson that choice is his to make.

The Giants eventually placed Wilson on IR and the running back duties last season were split between Andre Brown and Peyton Hillis.

With Wilson apparently able to participate in this summer's training camp, it would appear the Giants will have to make a decision about the former first round pick's role in the offense.
