Mavericks' forward Shawn Marion set to return tonight

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday by the score of 124-107. The win was the Mavericks' second consecutive to improve their record to 28-21, third in the Southwest Division.  They won the last two games without the presence of veteran forward Shawn Marion, who was out with a shoulder injury.  The good news is that Marion should be able to play tonight against the Grizzlies.

As reported by Eddie Sefko at, Marion has been nursing sore ribs and right shoulder. He last played on January 29 against the Houston Rockets. He struggled in that game, shooting only 3-of-10 from the floor, in 29 minutes of action.  Marion practiced and although it wasn't an intense practice, he feels his flexibility and range of motion are about 85 or 90 percent.  Coach Rick Carlisle agreed that Marion should be ready to go, so expect him in the starting lineup tonight.

Marion is in his 15th NBA season out of UNLV. The well-traveled veteran has played for the Suns, Heat, Raptors and Mavericks.  His best season was in 2005-2006, when he averaged 21.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.  In 43 games this season, Marion is averaging 11.1 points and 6.9 rebounds, in 31.4 minutes per game.
