By on 2/20/2014 12:00:00 PM

The New Orleans Pelicans lost to the New York Knicks on Wednesday by the score of 98-91. It was the Pelicans' third loss in their last four games to drop to 23-30, last in the Southwest Division. Not only are the Pelicans 16 games behind the division leading Spurs, they are seven games behind the fourth place Memphis Grizzlies. To make matters worse, there is news that guard Jrue Holiday is out indefinitely with his leg injury.

Jim Eichenhofer,  New Orleans Pelicans writer on, tweeted the following on Holiday's status.

On Tuesday it was reported by Sports Injury Alert writer Ryan Venier that  Holiday, who has been out since Jan. 10 with a stress fracture in his right tibia, was expected to return in a week, if not sooner.  It's difficult to determine exactly what this means for Holiday's status, but it appears to be a long shot that he'll be back within that original timetable of a week.

Brian Roberts and Tyreke Evans will see the majority of minutes at point guard until Holiday returns. Roberts started against the Knicks and had ten points and four assists, in 29 minutes. Evans added eight points and four rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.

Holiday is in his fifth season out of UCLA.  In his first season with the Pelicans, he is averaging 14.3 and 7.9 assists per game.  In 332 career games, Holiday is averaging 13.5 points and six assists per game.
