Rangers to be without Marc Staal

By on 2/25/2014 11:30:00 AM

The last stretch of the NHL regular season is starting in just over twenty-four hours and the injured news seems to keep getting tougher. The New York Rangers have reported that Marc Staal is out with a lower body injury.

Staal has been sidelined for the last three practices due to back spasms. He is questionable for the first game back on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks. The team has not revealed how serious his back spasms are but until they are not happening, he will not return to the ice in case of further injury.

With Staal out, the head coach Alain Vigneault said in a post-practice interview that he and the team have no major concern for Staal and that all he needs is time and rest.

Staal has missed a few games earlier this season after suffering from a concussion back on December seventh.

So far this season Staal has played forty-nine games and has three goals and eleven assists.
