Broncos' Peyton Manning to have scheduled neck exam

By on 3/03/2014 12:00:00 PM

When the Denver Broncos signed Peyton Manning two years ago they had a mutual agreement in the contract for Manning to get his neck reexamined this offseason for safety issues. If the doctors tell Manning it is best for his long term health that he should retire then that is what Peyton will do, but if the doctors clear him and tell him he will be fine, expect Manning for at least one more year.

This is a situation where the Broncos expect no news is good news. Manning passed his postseason physical that is given to all players so the Broncos expect Manning to pass this exam as well. Manning made it known throughout Super Bowl week that if he is healthy he will play and seeing how the Broncos season ended you can bet Manning will be itching to get back out on the field.

Manning may be without two of his top offensive weapons in 2014. Knowshon Moreno and Eric Decker are both set to hit free agency next week. There have been reports that both these players may walk because they can probably get better deals elsewhere. The Broncos feel they already have Moreno's replacement with Montee Ball and they will still have Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Julius Thomas to catch passes from Manning so the broncos will still have plenty of fire power on offense.

Manning had statistically his best year in 2013, but came up just short in the playoffs. He is still chasing that second ring that helps define your legacy as a QB and if the doctors clear him then the Broncos will have a great shot at getting back to the Super Bowl.
