Clippers' Blake Griffin not expected to play tonight against Timberwolves

By on 3/31/2014 07:30:00 AM

Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin is doubtful to suit up tonight against the Timberwolves, according to Brad Turner on Twitter. Griffin is suffering from back spasms and is currently listed as day-to-day.

Griffin aggreavated his back during the first quarter in their win on Saturday night against the Rockets. He exited the game after playing only six minutes and did not return. The Clippers do not have many options at the power forward position, so it is likely they will start small tonight if Griffin is unable to go.

Griffin has not missed a game all season, but with the playoffs approaching the Clippers may keep him sidelined for a game or two. Expect to see Matt Barnes and Jared Dudley get extra minutes if he cannot go.

In 74 games this season Griffin is averaging 24.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 35.9 minutes per game.

The Clippers are currently third in the Western Conference with a record of 52-22.
