Coyotes' hopeful to see Mike Smith back before post-season

The NHL has announced that the Phoenix Coyotes are hopeful that they can see their goalie Mike Smith return to the game before the regular season ends.

Mike Smith will be off the ice for a couple of more days to rest his lower-body injury. Smith left on Monday night, late in the game against the New York Rangers. However the good news is, according to Coach Dave Tippett, he said that Smith has resumed off-ice workouts and things seem to be heading in the right direction.

Goalie Thomas Greiss made his third straight loss on Saturday in a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Both teams currently hold a wildcard spot in the Western Division and before the Coyotes loss last night there was only one point that separated the two of them.

So far in March the Coyotes are 10-4-1 with Smith and Greiss taking turns to keep the team in the running.
