Cubs' Mike Olt out Monday with shoulder fatigue, should play Tuesday

The Chicago Cubs' Mike Olt has fully recovered from eye procedures that he underwent during the offseason to improve his vision and, therefore, performance at the plate. He has played in nine games so far this spring while competing for the starting job at third base. Olt, though, will not play Monday due to fatigue in his right shoulder. MLB.com's Carrie Muskat announced the news shortly before game time on Monday.

Olt will rest Monday, but it does not appear that he will miss any more time right now. Muskat also tweeted that Olt should play Tuesday.
Olt has shown some good power for the Cubs so far this spring. He has hit three home runs and driven in six runs in 29 at bats although the Cubs would like to see him improve on his .241 batting average and on-base average. Last year in the Minor Leagues, Olt hit just .201 with 15 HR and 42 RBI in 107 games. Vision problems led to that sub-par performance, but Cubs president Theo Epstein and general manager Jed Hoyer thought enough of the former Texas Rangers prospect to land him in the trade that sent Matt Garza to Texas at the July 31 trade deadline.
