Diamondbacks' Cody Ross (hip) may return April 10

According to Jack Magruder of FOX Sports Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross, on the disabled list, will begin his rehab assignment at Triple-A Reno and could come back April 10th or soon after.

Ross, 32, suffered a broken and dislocated hip on August 11th and ended his season. He was hustling out a ground ball and took an awkward step to reach 1st base and caused the unfortunate injury. His hip socket popped out and a piece of the wall of his hip broke off.

Here is Ross' injury last August.

Ross, a ten-year veteran, hit for a line of .278/.331/.413 with 8 home runs, 38 runs batted in just 94 games in 2013. He carried a slightly above average wRC+ of 102 and a WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of 1.8.

The Diamondbacks will be using Mark Trumbo, A.J. Pollock, and Gerardo Parra in the outfield as Ross rehabs, but it isn't clear cut that Ross would take Pollock's job when he gets back. Arizona has high hopes for Pollock and Ross could be left to be the 4th outfielder after signing a 3-year, $26 million deal after the 2012 season.
