Free agent tight end Jermichael Finley not physically ready

By on 3/22/2014 09:30:00 AM

Just over a week ago, reports came pouring in of Jermichael Finley being on the verge of an agreement with the Seattle Seahawks. Now, Bob McGinn of The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the tight end is “at least two months away” from signing with any NFL team

Finley has been recovering from a devastating spinal injury that required neck surgery and has not received clearance for full contact from doctors. Seahawks fans may have gotten their hopes up too soon for a deal since the team re-signed Anthony McCoy and retained veteran Zach Miller on a restructured contract.  At this point, it might be TE overload to sign the battle-scarred Finley.

The New York Giants have shown interest and Finley previously stated that if the Packers want to re-sign him, he won’t accept a pay cut and wants to be considered a top-tier tight end. At the start of the 2014 season, Finley will be 27-years old and could be a valuable steal for any team still in the hunt for a TE.

Perhaps his re-Tweet of EA Sports’ Madden NFL account was an attempt to sell himself to several potential buyers:
