Nationals' Doug Fister takes another step towards season

By on 3/22/2014 05:30:00 PM

The Washington Nationals sent Doug Fister to the mound on Saturday for his first action since March 2nd.  He skipped his next start after that due to elbow inflammation and started a routine recovery in hopes of being ready for the season.  Dan Kolko of MASN tweeted:

Fister pitched 3.2 innings today against the Miami Marlins.  He allowed two hits & no walks while striking out four.  It was a solid outing.  He'll likely make one more start this Spring and will hopefully be ready to go for his turn in the rotation once the season begins.

Fister was acquired this past offseason by the Nationals from the Detroit Tigers.  Last season he compiled a 14-9 record with a 3.67 ERA in thirty-three games, including thirty-two starts.  Stay tuned to Sports Injury Report for any future updates on his recovery.
