Nationals' Doug Fister will test elbow on Tuesday

Washington Nationals starter Doug Fister skipped his Spring Training start last Friday due to inflammation in his right elbow as our own Matt Musico reported. After taking the weekend and Monday off, Fister will test his elbow by throwing lightly on Tuesday. The Washington Post's James Wagner announced the news late Monday afternoon.

Although Wagner says that there is no timetable beyond Tuesday's throwing session,'s Andrew Simon initially reported that Fister could throw a bullpen session soon after if Tuesday's workout turns out all right. He could return to game action if there are no setbacks.

Fister was not overly concerned about the inflammation even right after it occurred. On March 8, he called it "typical inflammation" and said that he will treat it as a minor day-to-day problem.  An MRI showed no structural damage to the elbow.
