Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Wil Myers limped out of the Rays' win over the Pirates after fouling a ball off his leg. According to Tom Singer of MLB.com, Myers has escaped with a bruised right quad. The 23-year-old didn't seem to think that the problem would keep him off the field for long.
Nothing but a bad bruise. I'll be back in lineup asap!It seems likely that Myers will sit out of Sunday's contest against the Red Sox and the Rays have an off-day on Monday before facing the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday evening, which would give Myers 72 hours to recover. Tampa Bay still has almost two full weeks of spring training games before their regular season opener on the 31st, so they have plenty of time to work Myers back into the lineup.

After coming over from Kansas City in the James Shields trade last offseason, Myers was called up mid-season and hit 23 doubles and 13 home runs in 373 plate appearances, compiling an excellent .293/.354/.478 rookie slash line. The former third-round pick figures to be a key part of the Rays lineup this season as they try to contend in the formidable AL East.
