Suns' Eric Bledsoe has best game since return from injury

The Phoenix Suns extended their winning streak to two on Friday night with a 98-92 victory over the Detroit Pistons. With the win, the Suns improved to 40-29 on the season, third in the Pacific Division and a half game behind the Grizzlies for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Point guard Eric Bledsoe, who returned from injury on March 12, had his best game since his return.

Lance Cpl. John Robbart III via Wikimedia Commons reported that Bledsoe scored 23 points on 8-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the free throw line. He added five rebounds, five assists and two steals.  He had missed 34 games due to injury and has been slow to regain his form. During the past five games before Friday night, Bledose had average 12.6 points and 5.4 assists, but shot just 37 percent from the floor.

For the Suns to make a push into the post season with 13 games left to play, Bledsoe needs to be back to form. The game against the Pistons was a good sign moving forward.  We'll see if Bledsoe can put together back-to-back strong performances when the Suns play the Timberwolves on Sunday afternoon.

Bledsoe is in his fourth season out of Kentucky. As a rookie with the Clippers in 2010-2011, he averaged 6.7 points and 3.6 assists per game.  Despite playing in only 30 games this season, Bledsoe is enjoying his best season statistically, averaging 17.2 points, 5.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.
