Thumb injury appears minor for Bulls' Joakim Noah

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday by the score of 105-94. The win was the Bulls' tenth in their last twelve games to improve their record to 34-27, second in the Central Division. Joakim Noah had a triple-double in the win, scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Noah has an injured thumb, but the way he's been playing, nobody would know. It appears his injury is minor and shouldn't affect him moving forward.

K.C. Johnson, who covers the Bulls for the Chicago Tribune, tweeted the following confirming Noah's status.
Noah has been hampered with minor injuries as of late.  Noah has his second triple-double of the season finishing with 13 points, 14 assists and 12 rebounds in Sunday's win over the Knicks. But he said after the game that his ankle was in a lot of pain. Having said that, Noah implied that the injury would not keep him out of action tonight against the Nets.

Although the thumb injury appears minor, should Noah have problems Nazr Mohammed and Taj Gibson could see additional minutes. Gibson has been playing well, scoring 22 points and grabbing five rebounds against the Pistons. Mohammed has seen limited playing time and is averaging just 1.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season.

Noah is averaging 12 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this season.  The seven-year veteran has career averages of 9.7 points and 9.4 rebounds in 455 games.
