The Oklahoma City Thunder thumped the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday by the score of 131-102. The win improved the Thunder to 48-17, first in the Pacific Division and a game behind the Spurs for first in the Western Conference. Point guard Russell Westbrook, who has missed 30 games due to injury, had 29 points and nine assists in 23 minutes. With six back-to-backs before the end of the season, Westbrook will be seeing some additional rest.

Anthony Slater, Thunder beat writer for The Oklahoman, tweeted the following on Westbrook's status.
Brooks has not indicated which games Westbrook will miss, but the next six games are all comprised of back-to-backs, so expect Westbrook to sit out a few of those games. Reggie Jackson, who had eight points, eight rebounds and six assists, in 22 minutes off the bench should start in those games Westbrook sits.

Westbrook is a key component to the Thunder as the floor general.  With the post season approaching, it's important he's as fresh as possible to make a push in the Western Conference.

Westbrook is in his sixth season out of UCLA.  He's averaging 21.5 points o 43.6 percent shooting, to go along with 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game this season.
