Timberwolves' Kevin Martin returns in win over Kings

The Minnesota Timberwolves moved back to .500 with a 108-97 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. At 29-29, the Timberwolves are five games out of playoff spot with 24 games to play. The Kings got the much anticipated return of Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin, who had both been out with injuries

TonyTheTiger via Wikimedia Commons reported that Martin, who had missed seven games with thumb injury, didn't look rusty at all. He scored 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the floor, 7-of-8 from the free throw line, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 34 minutes. Any speculation that Martin may have limited minutes until he's back in game shape or until he shakes off the rust can be put to rest.

Chase Budinger, who had averaged 11.7 points in 27 minutes starting in place of Martin, returned to his role off the bench. He scored six points on 3-of-6 shooting and grabbed two rebounds, in 14 minutes of action.

Martin is in his tenth NBA season out of Western Carolina.  The veteran has played for the Kings, Rockets, Thunder and Timberwolves. In his first season with the Timberwolves, Martin is averaging 19.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.  In 601 career games, Martin is averaging 17.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game..
