The Colorado Avalanche have announced that top forward Matt Duchene has started to skate again. He has been out with a knee injury since March 29th.

Duchene suffered a freak accident after he collided with one of his teammates, Jamie McGinn. He was expected to miss a minimum of four weeks with a sprained MCL.

Duchene started skating again this week. The coaches and training staff are seeing improvement everyday with him. After his skate, Duchene was asked how much longer until he would return. He carefully answered, "I have no idea,"  "I'm staying within my comfort zone, and right now it all feels comfortable. With injuries, you have to be patient."

Duchene also suffered a similar injury two seasons ago, this one being less severe. Though, because of the previous injury he knew what to expect this time around and the precautions he had to take. "It helps knowing my body way better than I did the last time I hurt my knee," "It's a process, and I understand the process better this time."

There is still no timeframe for when Duchene is expected to return to the game but many predict it will be sooner then expected.
