Blue Jackets' Nathan Horton to miss 6 weeks after undergoing surgery

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that forward Nathan Horton will miss six weeks after undergoing Abdominal Surgery on Friday morning.

Horton suffered an abdominal injury. He even missed the past few games, with the team saying he was day-to-day. He came back on Tuesday night to face the Phoenix Coyotes, but only played five minutes before leaving the game with an undisclosed injury.

One thing for sure, is the bad timing to this injury and the recovery time. With the team heading to the playoffs for the second time in franchise history, and Horton himself being a key aspect to the team, means his absence will make other players step up and help push the team along.

This has not been Horton's year. He left the Boston Bruins to sign a 7 year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. This season he only played 36 games because he underwent shoulder surgery done last May that sidelined him for 6-8 months.

In the 36 games played for the Blue Jackets, Horton has five goals and fourteen assists.
