Braves' Mike Minor will rejoin the team on Friday

The Atlanta Braves had a rare poor performance from a starting pitcher last night in a 9-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. Alex Wood allowed seven runs on 10 hits in five innings to drop to 2-4 on the season. The Braves, at 17-8 are still first in the Major Leagues with a 2.32 staff ERA. The Braves pitching is about to get even better, as Mike Minor is set to return to the rotation.

As reported by Matt Snyder of, Minor is scheduled to start on Friday against the San Francisco Giants in the first of a three-game weekend series.  Minor will take the spot of David Hale, who has an ERA of 2.31 in four starts.

Minor has been recovering from shoulder tendonitis that he suffered during spring training.  He made five minor league rehab starts, pitching to a 4.43 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings.

Minor was drafted by the Braves in the first round of the 2009 amateur draft.  He made his Major League debut in 2010 and went 3-2 with a 5.98 ERA in nine games that season.  Minor was 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA in 32 games last season. In 204 2/3 innings, he allowed only 177 hits and struck out 181.  He has a career record of 32-24 with a 3.90 ERA.
