The Los Angeles Lakers lost to crosstown rivals Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday by the score of 120-97.  The blowout loss dropped the Lakers to 25-52, last place in the Pacific Division.  The Lakers were without guard Kent Bazemore for most of the game following a foot injury. Bazemore had just two points, four assists and two rebounds in only 11 minutes of action. An MRI revealed the Bazemore will miss the remaining five games of the season and will undergo surgery.

The official press release of the Los Angeles Lakers at NBA.com reported that the MRI yesterday morning showed that Bazemore has a torn peroneus longus tendon in his right foot.  The timetable for his return will be determined following the outcome of his surgery.

Bazemore's injury typifies the nightmarish season for the Lakers, who were without key players Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, Xavier Henry, Nick Young and Jordan Farmar for some of much of the season due to injuries.

The second-year guard out of Old Dominion averaged two points in just 4.4 minutes per in 61 games with the Warriors last season.  He played in 44 games with the Warriors this season, but averaged only 2.3 points in 6.1 minutes per game. Since playing with the Lakers, Bazemore has shown improvement with increased playing time, averaging 13.6 points and 3.4 rebounds, in 28.7 minutes per game.
