Leafs' Jonathan Bernier to miss 3 weeks with sprained MCL

The Maple Leafs have announced that goalie Jonathan Bernier will miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a lower-body injury on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins.

Bernier was injured late in the third period while facing the Bruins. Paul Ranger pushed Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron on top of Jonathan Bernier. Bernier's leg went a funny angle and he had trouble standing up.

Bernier remained down on the ice for several minutes while he was seen by the medical staff. He was slow to get up and had to be helped off the ice as he could not put any pressure on his left leg. After the game there was no updates except that he would have an MRI on Friday morning.

Friday mornings' MRI showed he had a sprained MCL (knee muscle) and would miss the remainder of the regular season and if the team makes it to the play offs-they will have to use James Reimer until Bernier is ready to return.
