Nats' Bryce Harper scratched due to quad tightness

By on 4/16/2014 06:40:00 PM

The Washington Nationals have announced that Bryce Harper has been scratched from Wednesday night’s game due to quad tightness.

As reported by our very own Rose Ingberman of SportsInjuryAlert, Harper seemed to be fine after injuring his quad Monday, but he has been kept out of the lineup tonight. The Nationals are playing the Marlins as Jose Fernandez and Tanner Roark square off with Tyler Moore starting in left field for the Nats.

This season, Harper is 17 of 50 with 1 home run, 7 runs batted in, while striking out 16 times, and walking just 5 times. Harper started off slow, but recently has heated up as he has 13 hits in his last 25 at bats.

Harper, 22, in 2013 hit for a line of .274/.368/.486 with 20 home runs, 58 runs batted in with 11 stolen bases, and 71 runs. He accumulated an above wRC+ of 137 and a good WAR (Wins Above Replacement) at 3.8.

We will update you on any further information as it comes out.
