The Edmonton Oilers injured list is getting longer. Nail Yakupov was placed on injured reserved with a lower body injury and there is no time-table for his return.

Yakupov has been sidelined since mid-March with an ankle injury. He suffered the injury at the end of February and missed a handful of games at the beginning of March. He came back to the ice and continued playing but the pain was getting progressively worse. This lead them to do another set of X-Rays.

According to the Oilers coach Dallas Eakins, he says that recent x-rays have showed that Yakupov has a fractured ankle...or at least it has a crack in it. The injury took place on February 27th when Yakupov blocked a shot during a game against the Minnesota Wild.

But it is not all bad news with the injury. Following Monday's practice the Oilers coach said. “Yak might start skating Friday,”

It is a wait and see situation with Yakupov but nothing can keep this young player off the ice for long. There is a good possibility he will be seen before the end of the regular season. The two games he played with the fracture, he played over fifteen minutes which shows the youngster has a high pain threshold.

So far this season Yakupov has played 63 games and scored 11 goals and has 13 assists.
