Rockets' Patrick Beverley and Dwight Howard return in win over Pelicans

The Houston Rockets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night by the score of 111-104. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved the Rockets to 53-27, fourth in the Western Conference. The Rockets saw the return of point guard Patrick Beverley and center Dwight Howard, who each missed the last eight games due to injury. The return is excellent news for the Rockets heading into the last two games of the season and into the playoffs.

Jerry Dial Creech, who covers the Rockets for the Houston Chronicle, confirmed that Howard and Beverley would be available tonight.
Howard, coming back from an ankle injury, had 13 points, six rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal in 29 minutes. Beverley, returning from a knee injury, had 20 points, four assists and three rebounds in 33 minutes. With Howard and Beverley back in the lineup, Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik returned to their bench roles.

Beverley, in his second season out of Arkansas,  is averaging 9.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 53 games this season. Howard, in his 10th NBA season, is averaging 18.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots in 68 games.
