According to MLB Network Radio, Ron Gardenhire said that Josh Willingham will most likely begin his rehab assignment this week. He also said that the Twins will keep Chris Colabello in the lineup when Willingham returns.

As our very own Sports Injury Alert correspondent Kerry Kauffman reported, Willingham has a small wrist fracture. He did not require surgery, but began treatment for it right away.

In late April of 2013 Willingham suffered a bone bruise on an unsuccessful slide against Texas and caused him to play two months on an aching left knee. His numbers were also throbbing and as a result he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on July 3 before rushing back to the lineup just 5 weeks later.

In 2013, In his final 40 plus games he hit for a .182 average with a combined OBP/SLUG of .633. Overall, he hit for career lows ending up with a .208 average with 14 home runs and just 48 runs batted in.

This season, Willingham has played just 6 games with a slash of .294/.435/.353 with 0 home runs and 1 run batted in 17 at bats.

Willingham will most likely be back with the Twins in less than 2 weeks unless more problems occur with his hand.
