White Sox place Conor Gillaspie on DL

By on 4/26/2014 06:45:00 PM

The Chicago White Sox continue their four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays tonight and they'll continue to play without third baseman Conor Gillaspie.  Gillaspie was placed on the 15-day DL today by the White Sox, retroactive to April 22nd.  Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times tweets out the news:

Gillaspie has missed the past four games has he dealt with a left hand contusion.  Contusions usually clear up in a few days but the placement on the Disabled List makes you question if it's worse than originally thought.  Marcus Semien will continue to play in his absence.  On the season, Gillaspie has hit .302 in 16 games.  He's connected for seven doubles & collected twelve RBI.

Hector Noesi will now join his third team on the season.  He started the year with the Seattle Mariners before becoming a Texas Ranger.  He's had a horrific season, pitching in five games and allowing ten runs on thirteen hits & two walks while striking out six in 6.1 innings of work.  Opposing batters are hitting a gaudy .419 against the right-hander.

Stay tuned to Sports Injury Alert for future updates on Gillaspie's condition.
