David Hale, A’s bench coach, who was replacing Bob Melvin who is at his daughter’s graduation says that it isn’t a big deal and Jaso will likely be catching tomorrow.

This season, Jaso has a line of .284/.373/.468 with 4 home runs, 12 runs batted in, 15 walks, 32 strikeouts in 37 games. He has an .841 OPS and a 0.8 WAR (Wins Above Replacement). He has been platooning with Derek Norris at catcher and serving as the designated hitter occasionally.

In 2013, Jason had a slash of .271/.387/.372 with 3 home runs, 21 runs batted in 38 walks, 45 strikeouts in 70 games played. He accumulated a 1.1 WAR and a .759 OPS.

Jaso, 30, has been injury plagued in his short 6 year major league career and has seen big league time with the Rays, Mariners, and recently the A’s.

The A's dropped the first game of a three game series in Toronto Friday, but still sit in first place in the American League East with a 30-18 record.
